We’ve initiated our action against Equifax for victims of the Equifax data protection breach here in the UK. We’re now acting for many people affected by the data protection breach, but you can still join the action<\/a> if you have yet to do so.<\/p>\n

We’re confident there is a case to answer, but at the same time, more and more is coming out about the breach, and the pressure is piling on the credit-reference agency at the centre of the huge cyber-hack from 2017.

\nWe recently discovered that the number of victims was far larger than Equifax had previously thought<\/a>. The cost of the breach has been assessed, and it may well be one of the costliest in history.<\/p>\n

On top of that, Equifax are facing increasing demands to disclose more information about the breach, including more information about the data they hold.<\/p>\n

As a credit-referencing agency, they often receive data from other companies to process. As a result, a lot of people had no idea their data was even being held by Equifax<\/strong> in the first place. To make matters worse, it also transpired that they had mishandled data for UK victims as well.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Equifax failed to patch a known vulnerability<\/strong>, and their systems failed to detect the weakness. As a result, we believe they will have no choice but to accept liability for the breach.<\/p>\n

The number of victims in the UK is almost at 700,000. Don’t be surprised if that number once again rises in the coming months.<\/p>\n
