The point of these huge fines is to shift organisational attitude to one of preventing data breaches before they happen. If they don\u2019t, they will have to pay a heavy price.<\/p>\n

Will they be fined millions?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Amid shares falling and pre-tax profits down by 24%, which is said to be linked to the Dixons Carphone data breach<\/strong><\/a>, and almost 100 stores being closed, the news is bleak for Dixons Carphone right now.<\/p>\n

A Dixons Carphone data breach GDPR style fine would be another headache to deal with.<\/p>\n

The data breach took place last year, which means it was before the change in the laws, yet it has taken almost a year to publish news of it. The news broke after the deadline. So, Dixons Carphone will reportedly be required to take a number of GDPR steps in the wake of the breach, but will the breach itself attract a huge fine?<\/p>\n
