Hundreds of millions of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dataleaklawyers.co.uk\/blog\/a-million-records-subject-to-patient-healthcare-data-breaches\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>medical records worldwide have been exposed<\/strong><\/a> as a result of targeted attacks against the healthcare industry on the whole, which is a lucrative business for the likes of fraudsters.<\/p>\n<p>Healthcare budgets are always an issue. Our own NHS is struggling to meet the growing demands of the UK population when it comes to medical care itself, leaving healthcare cybersecurity in the backseat.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Healthcare cybersecurity knowledge lacking<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Healthcare cybersecurity knowledge is also thought to be lacking as well. Some heath bosses may not be savvy enough to fully understand the risks and how to deal with them, and some healthcare organisations reportedly don\u2019t have strong enough cybersecurity which has also been blamed on a simple lack of understanding.<\/p>\n<p>There may also be not enough people working in healthcare cybersecurity to truly mount an effective defence against increasing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dataleaklawyers.co.uk\/blog\/are-data-breaches-inevitable\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>attacks that are becoming more and more sophisticated<\/strong><\/a> all the time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dataleaklawyers.co.uk\/blog\/wannacry-attack-was-lucky-escape-nhs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Last year\u2019s WannaCry attack<\/strong><\/a> was a clear example as to how a lack of understanding put our NHS at risk, as the malicious software specifically targeted old and outdated systems, which some parts of the NHS still use.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Healthcare cybersecurity must be a priority<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Healthcare cybersecurity must be a priority, although we appreciate that it\u2019s easier said than done when funding and resources remain a serious issue.<\/p>\n<p>In the absence of top-quality systems and security, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dataleaklawyers.co.uk\/blog\/healthcare-industry-heart-most-data-breaches\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>healthcare industry may be plagued to remain at the top of the table in terms of data breaches and hacks<\/strong><\/a>, which is made worse by the fact that these organisations hold particularly personal and sensitive data.<\/p>\n<p>We represent a lot of victims for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dataleaklawyers.co.uk\/blog\/1-in-8-people-england-suffer-healthcare-data-breaches\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>healthcare data breaches<\/strong><\/a> as they\u2019re one of the most common scenarios.
