The actors behind the Marriott data hack may never be known. This has been accepted by the CEO of the company amidst suspicions from the US government that China may have been involved.<\/p>\n

In a statement, CEO Arne Sorenson had previously said:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will never know who the actor was. We don\u2019t have the expertise and I don\u2019t think we have the tools to figure that out. There have obviously been people externally who have speculated and what information they are relying on I don\u2019t know and we\u2019re not necessarily convinced that anyone knows exactly what happened.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

This may be of little comfort to the victims whose personal and sensitive data may have been exposed for years. It may not have helped that it took so long for the breach to be revealed, and for customers to find out about the incident.<\/p>\n
