The letters being sent from Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust have reportedly confirmed that a member of staff has been accessing medial records without a legitimate reason to do so. In the case we have taken forward, the patient had stayed at the hospital where the staff member worked, and the matter had been referred to the ICO.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s understood that a patient had made a complaint that had then sparked an investigation that revealed the illegitimate access of medical records. The findings of the investigation confirmed that some patients\u2019 record were accessed once, while others may have been accessed on a number of occasions.<\/p>\n
