We\u2019ve launched our Virgin Media data breach compensation action having been contacted for help last night and today by customers affected by the incident.<\/p>\n

We have taken legal cases forward on a No Win, No Fee basis for several of the 900,000 victims whose personal information had been left accessible online<\/strong><\/a>. We\u2019re aware that at least one third-party has accessed the data that had been left unsecure from April 2019 until 28th<\/sup> February 2020 before a security researcher discovered the leak. It remains to be seen if customers\u2019 information has been accessed by anyone with a malicious agenda.<\/p>\n

Virgin Media data breach compensation action launched<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Customers that have received confirmation that they\u2019re affected could claim for the distress caused by the loss of control and \/ or the misuse of their private information. Risks to victims<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The risks for the victims of the Virgin Media data breach could be serious if someone with malicious intentions has accessed the exposed information.<\/p>\n

The data leaked could be enough for scammers to contact victims and pose as the telecommunications firm in the same way that victims of the TalkTalk hack were. In the TalkTalk case, scammers used data from the cyberattack to convince victims they were calling from TalkTalk to resolve issues. Unfortunately, the criminals were able to dupe some of the victims into sending money to them and giving them access to accounts.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t yet know whether this has happened to any victims of the Virgin Media data breach, but people affected should be vigilant; especially as the data was accessible for a period of 10 months.<\/p>\n
