In November 2020, Manchester United was targeted by cybercriminals. The Manchester United cyberattack came as a shock to fans, with some worried that games could be postponed.<\/p>\n

However, the club has spoken out and said that they were \u2018confident\u2019 that no critical systems required for the upcoming matches were breached and the games went on safely.<\/p>\n

It appears that, in this case, information has not been exposed, which is great to hear. When a system is breached, it can put victims of the breach in danger if personal information is at risk of exposure, and victims could be eligible to make a compensation claim<\/strong><\/a> relating to the severity of the breach.<\/p>\n

About the Manchester United cyberattack<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Manchester United cyberattack on their systems appears to have not resulted in any personal data being exposed for any fans or employees. The club was prompt in dealing with the cyberattack and reportedly managed to prevent any further disruption to their systems.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson released a statement about the Manchester United cyberattack as follows:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe club has taken swift action to contain the attack and is currently working with expert advisers to investigate the incident and minimise the ongoing IT disruption. Although this is a sophisticated operation by organised cyber criminals, the club has extensive protocols and procedures in place for such an event and had rehearsed for this eventuality.<\/em><\/p>\n

Our cyber defences identified the attack and shut down affected systems to contain the damage and protect data. Club media channels, including our website and app, are unaffected and we are not currently aware of any breach of personal data associated with our fans and customers<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is pleasing to see that they appear to have avoided any exposure or misuse of private information. If only more organisations out there were able to do the same, we may all be able to feel more confident about information security.<\/p>\n
