In this breach, an employee sent a mass email to almost 800 people using the \u201cCC\u201d function\u201d instead of the \u201cBCC\u201d function. This resulted in hundreds of people\u2019s HIV statuses being exposed to each other.<\/p>\n

Sending mass emails using this BCC function is archaic and dangerous. There is plenty of readily available mass mailing software that companies and organisations can use. As such, a key argument here is that the employee who committed the breach should never have been put in the position to have done so in the first place.<\/p>\n

These are just a few considerations. There are many more, but this should hopefully give you some food for thought.<\/p>\n
