ICO investigation into University Hospital Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The UK’s data watchdog, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), recently concluded an investigation into the loss of medical data involving the University Hospital Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.<\/p>\n

According to the ICO investigation, the trust in question had terminated the use of an electronic system that was used to store medical data. However, it appears that, prior to disusing the particular system, not all the information contained on the system was downloaded before the expiry of the relevant licence. The ICO confirmed that the result was that a number of records had become inaccessible or were completely lost.<\/p>\n
