We’ve initiated our action against Equifax for victims of the Equifax data protection breach here in the UK. We’re now acting for many people affected by the data protection breach, but you can still join the action if you have yet to do so.
We’re confident there is a case to answer, but at the same time, more and more is coming out about the breach, and the pressure is piling on the credit-reference agency at the centre of the huge cyber-hack from 2017.
We recently discovered that the number of victims was far larger than Equifax had previously thought. The cost of the breach has been assessed, and it may well be one of the costliest in history.
On top of that, Equifax are facing increasing demands to disclose more information about the breach, including more information about the data they hold.
As a credit-referencing agency, they often receive data from other companies to process. As a result, a lot of people had no idea their data was even being held by Equifax in the first place. To make matters worse, it also transpired that they had mishandled data for UK victims as well.
As a reminder, Equifax failed to patch a known vulnerability, and their systems failed to detect the weakness. As a result, we believe they will have no choice but to accept liability for the breach.
The number of victims in the UK is almost at 700,000. Don’t be surprised if that number once again rises in the coming months.
We’re confident there is a clear case to answer here. If you have been notified that your information has been leaked in the Equifax cyber-hack, we may be able to represent you for a data protection compensation claim.
We’re involved in most of the biggest data leaks, data breaches and cyber-hack cases in the UK. For further advice about the rights you have for claiming, please contact the team on 0800 634 75 75 today.
