It is understood that the Liverpool NHS staff data leak involved the personal details of some 14,000 employees being accidentally shared. An apology has been issued following the breach that reportedly saw hundreds of managers receiving the private information of staff, seemingly without any reason or authority to receive the data in question.
The incident has been marked as an accidental disclosure due to an email error, with details affected including names, addresses, National Insurance numbers, birth dates, gender information, ethnicity data, and details about salaries. It is understood that a spreadsheet had been sent to managers that had a hidden tab that included the personal information leaked in question.
The Liverpool NHS staff data breach is understood to have been reported to the UK’s data watchdog, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Staff have been alerted about the incident with an apology issued from the trust. It is also understood that the recipient list included 24 external email accounts for staff at the trust as well.
